2025 Minimum Wage Updates
As the end of the year approaches, many states have announced changes to their minimum wage laws effective January 1, 2025. The Federal minimum wage will remain $7.25 per hour. Below are the states that have updated their minimum wage:
- Alaska: $11.91 per hour
- Arizona: $14.70 per hour
- California: $16.50 per hour
- Colorado: $14.81 per hour
- Connecticut: $16.35 per hour
- Delaware: $15.00 per hour
- Illinois: $15.00 per hour and $13.00 per hour for youths under 18 (working less than 650 hours per calendar year)
- Maine: $14.65 per hour
- Michigan: $10.56 per hour (the minimum wage will increase again on Feb. 21, 2025)
- Minnesota: $11.13 per hour
- Missouri: $13.75 per hour
- Montana: $10.55 per hour
- Nebraska: $13.50 per hour
- New Jersey: $15.49 per hour for employers with six or more employees and $14.53 per hour for employers with five or less employees and/or seasonal employers
- New York: $15.50 per hour for New York State and $16.50 per hour for New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County
- Ohio: $10.70 per hour
- Rhode Island: $15.00 per hour
- South Dakota: $11.50 per hour
- Vermont: $14.01 per hour
- Virginia: $12.41 per hour
- Washington: $16.66 per hour
*Note that certain cities and municipalities may have different wage requirements than state-required minimum wage.
