Are you seeing “Now Hiring” signs everywhere you turn? So are your employees.

By The Employer Group - Sep 01, 2021

It is no surprise that there is a shortage of employees and companies are utilizing every recruiting method to fill open positions: but are you appreciating your current employees? If there’s one thing the pandemic has taught employers and employees, it’s the importance of remaining resilient, being flexible/offering flexibility and showing appreciation.

With unemployment at record lows, and less people in the workforce, it’s important we’re focusing on our current employees, not just the ones we’re trying to hire. Remember, your current employees have had to adjust to remote work, hybrid schedules and even different physical configurations at your workplace. Mask usage, temperature checks and transitions back to work also bring additional changes and stressors. These same employees have had to fight COVID-19 themselves or watched a family member do so.

Here are a few things that you can do to appreciate your current employees for their resilience and flexibility regardless of their work location:

Social Media Shout Out
Social media platforms allow companies to recognize employees internally and externally for their hard work and dedication. This can be a great way to shout out your employees for their anniversary, birthday or achievements.

Care Package
A care package can be a fun way to recognize on-site and remote employees. You can write them a personal note, gift them company merch and include their favorite snacks.

Floating Holiday
A floating holiday can be utilized to take their birthday off, to have a long weekend or to simply spend time with their family. For employees that value time, this is right up their alley.

Meal Vouchers
Who doesn’t love a good meal whether onsite or remote? Treat your employees to a meal to the most raved restaurants in their area as a way to appreciate them.
