Child Sales Tax Rebate
The State of Wisconsin currently has a surplus of nearly $400 million, some of which is being returned to the taxpayers in the form of a Child Sales Tax Rebate. The rebate – $100, per qualifying child – is defined as a rebate for sales and use tax paid on purchases made for raising a dependent child in 2017. To be eligible for the rebate, the child must be:
1. Under the age of 18 on December 31, 2017
2. A dependent of yours on your 2017 tax return
3. A Wisconsin resident on December 31, 2017
4. A U.S. Citizen
To apply for this rebate, you’ll need your and your qualified child’s (children’s) social security number(s), along with date(s) of birth. Apply online before July 2 to be eligible for the credit: https://childtaxrebate.wi.gov/_/#1
